Carol, you have my sympathy. The first all-electric train I operated for the CTA when my supervisor said "coast" I let up the Cineston controller. I heard passengers in the car behind me making unrepeatable comments. But that was how we coasted on the old 4000 series. I hadn't shifted my mental gears yet.

Yep it's the Shoreline Trolley museum in Connecticut. Not in NYC, NY. It's north of NY, about 60 miles from NY.

and also there isnt any 3rd rail! so where is the power from?

Connecticut & this R17 was was rigged to use a pantograph to utilize cables from above to get it's power.
