2 Grover 1510 air horns mounted below a Ford F250. Fed with 80psi through 1 SMC 3/8" solenoid valve and 1/2" air line. I think they need new sound units... what do you think?

  • Hey man, I have an F-350. I'm looking at getting a set of grovers with 5 gallon air tank. What would you recommend?

I heard dual 1512s might be better, but I have no idea. How fast would your tank drain with both your horns on?

    Sweet truck by the way!

  • Thanks. It depends what you plan on using it for. I run code so I wanted to make sure I'd never run out of air. I've yet to run them enough to drain the tank so I don't know how long it will last. 5gallons should be plenty if you have a good air compressor that can refill it quickly.

1512s have a shorter bell so I would think that they would have a higher pitched sound but I can't say as I haven't heard them.

  • Does anyone know what the 1512 sound like?

  • @F250PSD try and honk the horns with shop air. if they honk fine your problem is needing bigger supply. im guessing your solenoid is too small, or just too low of flow. If the line cant flow enough volume pressure at the horn will decrease the longer you honk them. {obviously}. Think of the volume of line after the valve as your plenum. Once that air is used up you can only honk on the volume the solenoid can pass. move the noid closer to the horn and use a BIG one. For fast bags :)

  • where did you get these?

  • Epic!

  • beutiful music

  • Alright. A friend said that the 1512 were pretty good. I guess I can just try them and then replace if I don't like the sound (which I doubt). What PSI should I run them at for max effect? Thinkin of getting a 100% duty (at 100PSI) compressor rated for 150 PSI. I'll have to look at my options I guess. I'm new to this stuff.

  • let em go that the best sound
