Lots of pitchy notes in this recording and sliding all over the place - not great.
As for breath control, he didn't do anything out of the ordinary regarding long notes or phrases. You want breath control, try singing bel canto opera.

Superb classic. Comparatively, this songwriting makes praise choruses nothing more than wasted paper.
