@LissaFrutilla Thinning is incorrect terminology. The epidermis is always 5 layers thick - you can never thin it. Exfoliation releases dry dead skin cells at the surface. Excessive exfoliation of any sort can enable greater skin irritation. RetinA can be irritating on its own. Irritation is not a good thing. A reduced lipid barrier plus exfoliation plus irritation is a very bad thing. Check out the videos on exfoliation and cleansing. Bad cleansers reduce the lipid barrier.

@SkinCareTV Only mistaken for thinning the skin? Does it not thin the skin - only irritates it?
-
@LissaFrutilla. Retin-A will exfoliate the epidermis and it will cause flaky-dryness and irritation (redness). Often the latter is mistaken for thinning the skin too much. Retin-A is not ideal for a lot of people (I cannot use it on my skin) so if you are experiencing epidermal problems then switch to other dermal strengtheners like peptides, Vit C, Glycolic, Retinaldehyde etc. For more Vit A info see the PDF file RETIN-A/RETINOL/RETINALDEHYDE on blueturtlespa website under the YOUR_SKIN tab

About skin thickness: I know retin-a thickens the dermis, but thins the epidermis - are there any sideeffects to that? I mean, is it very bad that the outermost layer gets thinner? My skin is really thin/fine in texture already.
