Zombies: "This Will Be Our Year" in stereo with HORNS!

This song was released on the Zombies record 'Odessey and Oracle' and
appeared in mono until very recently. When the track was remixed for stereo in 1997
(thirty years after first release!) the horn overdubs were missing, making the track
sound a bit empty. I took the stereo and mono mixes of this song and blended them
in Audacity (sure wish BIG BEAT had thought of this!). Hope you like it.
To isolate the horns a bit better I looked at the spectral analysis of the
mono and stereo versions (same segment of the same song) and guessed
what to remove based on those differences. I imagine I could also use
phase inversion-cancellation to isolate those horns as well but I'm a bit of a
newbie at Audacity (doing more than dubbing vinyl to cd at least,
I do know how to trace out a pop . . .).

I don't hear it on this one track but the rest of the album, specifically "Brief Candles", "Hung Up On A Dream" and "Changes" are smothered in mellotron

Hey I mixed the Big Beat Stereo Zombies stuff with Alec Palao and must say the fidelity is waaay better than this- of course we worked with the raw tracks transferred from the original tapesat 24bit 96khz and the horns were not available to us because they were dubbed onto the master mono mix originally. Things get a bit tricky when trying to extract parts from mono masters- It never quite sounds right- so we didn't do it.

@markymcclellan I used that same CD you mastered as a source, but youtube down-samples the audio to poorer fidelity for easy streaming. I merely floated the original mono track over the stereo and faded it in and out as needed, Nice to meet you, Marky - thom @ feedd your head music, east atlanta village
