All music by Arctic Monkeys. I do not own this song. No copyright infringement is intended.

Oh yes. My tambourine is back! And she's here to help me cover Dance Little Liar. Once again, another excellent song in what I can only assume is another excellent record. I sincerely hope you guys enjoy it.

Technicalities (not for the easily-bored):

Figuring this one out was HARD (or at least trying to). If I'm not mistaken then there's a whole bunch of stuff going on in here.

For one there's a tambourine mounted on Matt's hats which he uses with his left pedal. But at first I also thought he used it with his hand every now and then to make an accented note instead of just stepping on the pedal. Later on, I realised that during the intro on the floor tom, just before the main beat starts you can hear the tambourine on top of what Matt's doing! I came to the conclusion that there are two different tambourines, and this second one is probably played by someone else other than the drummer, using his/her hands. You can tell the difference in sound between the two actually; one lasts a bit more (the one that I referred to as the second one).

The other thing was the toms. I usually get that wrong. Specially when there's not a single live performance to help me out here. Makes it that more challenging right? I struggled a bit trying to decide on that tom pattern during the chorus but I ended up thinking I could always record it again so this is what I believe is being played (I hope I'm right!). I'm always open to suggestions/corrections. Give it a go!

  • are you lefty?because you can do tricks on your left hand. :O

  • @wiuwiuwi Nah, I'm right-handed.

  • hey man i just wanted to start off by saying this is a great cover for a great song, but I remember going to an Arctic Monkeys show and seeing this song live (was the first song they played actually) and on the chorus I think Matt actually started on the floor tom instead of the hi tom, but I'm not too sure if that's how it was recorded or he just wanted to switch things up a bit, but I just thought I'd throw that out there, great cover regardless

  • Thanks a lot RuaRobot234.

You probably didn't notice but there's a link to the remake of this song (my 2nd version) right there on the screen. And yes, it's all on the floor tom, that has been corrected in the newer version.

Thanks for the tip though! And for watching!

  • Just got to see them play this live, idk if it was a live version of it but helders doesnt play the small tom, its all on the FT

  • It looks like you're right. They finally played it live at least right? I'm gonna give it another listen having what I saw in mind and maybe record it a second time. Thanks for letting me know man, greatly appreciated.

Although I'm much more sure about the tambourine pattern, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't play it like that. Did you notice anything about that?

  • Not everybody is rich man, if you see leperm's covers you'll see that he records everything perfect, and he doesn´t need all this stuff.
