Despite local protests, they were allowed to play a free concert from a badge in the lagoon opposite St. Marks square, from where an estimated 200.000 people watched. To pacify critics, Pink Floyd played at reduce volume, but there still claims of damage to marble cladding after the concert. Lamp-Posts were also broken by fans climbing them for a better view.
The city authorities failed to provide facilities for the visitin fans, many of whom slept in St. Marks square. They left behind them 300 tons of litter and feces, which had to be cleared by the army.
After a seven-hour sitting, the council apologized to Venice residents for the inconvenience, promising that no similar concert would ever be allowed.
The alderman in charge of Venice's Culture Committee, explaining: "I feel that I have to go, because I'm one of the people who gave the go-ahead for this concert".

Grande pezzo, grandissimo album A Momentary Lapse of Reason, e pure The Division Bell : immenso Gilmour, in culo Waters , senza lui hanno fatto meglio !
The Gilmour years are very underrated, yes. Most people don't acknowledge them, but A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell had a great feel, and are just all-around great albums to listen to.
This song is very under-appreciated, IMO. One of Floyd's best, and most moving pieces. It sounds amazing live, too (see: Delicate Sound of Thunder). Awesome.

Ma, devo ammettere, che c'è buona roba in esso...se l'avesse pubblicato un altro gruppo, magari mi sarebbe piaciuto anche...
