Actually caught one of her shudder attacks on video!! Dr(neurologist) says theyre harmless and shld go away in a couple years TOPS if not sooner. We thought they cldve been seizures or something but he knew them right away which from what ive read is pretty rare for most peoples dr to know about!:) We are in MN and he is a neurologist at the Duluth Clinic. I hope this helps yo ease another worried mother like i was at first!:) - Recorded and uploaded on my iPhone 2g/3g with iCamcorder ( http://camcorderapp.dw-c.de ).

  • In regards to MY daughters shudders I AM VERY educated. These ARE merely shudder attacks and are harmless. Her twin and her have both since pretty much grown out of them and have absolutely no residual affects from having them!:) perfectly happy and healthy normal little girls(now two). As to speaking for others I don't know but if diagnoses with shudder attacks like my girls had, then rest assured they are harmless:)

  • Also, we put these up originally because there really wasn't much info on the Internet about them, videos included. As a mother you become very protective and scared when you notice the very slightest oddity in your new baby's behavior when you're not familiar. Knowing that feeling in that same moment I wanted to add my experiences to try and help any other mom out there.:) Comments are appreciated but only if they are appropriate and medical advice is sound and Educated.

  • Developmentally delayed? Not an appropriate comment.. Unless you're a dr you really shldnt make comments like that.. For one, she was trying to have a bowel movement and two, she was only 7mos old. She was a bit distracted.. Also, she wouldn't have acknowledged me when I said her name nor wld she have smiled if she had it. So please try not to make assumptions like that uninformed.

  • Hey there,

    Just to post an update,,

Lily has kind of started to have these again.. Now they only seem to be when she's eating. Gracie's have mostly gone away.. This video is old and grainy- I have a newer one on here where she does it an it's more noticeable..

Not labeled with 'shutter' but the one where Lily's trying to eat the towel..

  • Mollies mom-and to the other two who emailed me on here re this.. Sorry for some reason I can't access my inbox via my iPhone so can't reply other than this way for right now.. But, to answer some of the questions.. Both girls are symptom free still!:) Lily did have one about a month ago or so but was only due to her actually being cold and shuttering. No testing was done or needed.. It was definitely the shudder attacks.. But again, they are harmless and temporary!:) cont...

  • YAY!! As of today, 5/28/2010, I havent noticed Lily nor her sister, Gracie, have anymore for a while now!:) So, apparently they DO go away!!:) They were SO nerve racking and scary!! I hope this helps any of you watching in hopes to find answers and gives you hope and eases your mind!!:)

  • You're kidding.....you're in Duluth too?! We literally just got back from the pediatric neruologist at Essentia 20 minutes ago. Our daughter was diagnosed with shudder attacks too and is scheduled for an EEG on Tuesday. Is there any way to send you a note outside of a comment. I can't seem to find a way, but would really like to talk to you about all this stuff.

  • @ktallett so these are harmless ...correct? do they ever stop? my baby does the same exact thing....ocassionally

  • @ktallett so everything is fine? shutters are harmless ..correct?..my daughter does the same....help

  • Our neurologist diagnosed him with benign shutters. Music to our ears.

  • Thank you for posting! My son is almost 12 months and was diagnosed with Infantile Spasms at 5 months. We were concerned these shudders were a new type of seizure but his EEG came back normal.

  • @scbydooo

my daughter has the exact same thing since 4 months....please help me...I try to explain to her pediatrician but she doesnt understand....I am a bit more calm now...but how are ur beautiful babies? mine is now 8 months and does it every once in a while especially after eating....

  • thanks for posting this - it helps to compare shudders and see if I'm freaking out about my little one unnecessarily - will ask doc but this eases my stress somewhat :)
