@tostoday its fork of gnome3 basically. to add the features like we had in gnome2.
and recently it got a lot of improvements. when u tested it last time it didnt have much. but now u can move the panels and configure the stuff on the panels pretty easily. its all work in progress tho and interesting to see where it goes. atm still MATE is the best solution for those old gnome2 farts like me :)

@Live4TheGame1 Hmm.. I had to check since my Window theme and GTK theme are "grayish". I just tried Ambiance and it changed. Tried another dark theme and had to log out but it did change.

@dubbac77 Not what I meant, I meant the Window theme is Adwatia, and you cant change it. The themes on the Cinnamon website only change the way the panels look, not the way the Windows look.

I am surprised that you are not aware that cinnamon desktop IS gnome 3. just reworked to give it a more traditional gnome feel. They are not "abandoning" gnome 3. I believe they are indeed being incredibly innovative in this regard. I am glad you like gnome 3 in Ubuntu. Many do not. Cinnamon is a great alternative for those users. Linux is unique in that way giving users many choices as far as desktop environments.

@kenhall5551 I call it Gnome 3 without the tweaks, less friendly. Cinnamon is a modification of it so in that regard it is different but I understand.

Until they can afford a license for Silverlight (so we can watch Netflix) and get HD movies & Blu Ray working, they can hardly call another OS "inferior."

Cinnamon was updated very recently. Originally, I didn't like it but the improvements have almost made switch away from what I currently use but I'm very much use to Unity (not a hater) and do work much quicker in it.
