Industrial rope access, Rescue from crawl with knot pass. You have to make another large knot above the victim, above the knot so you make the knots above each other. Now you can make a change from ropes at the knots (2nd decending device required to pass knots), have a look......

  • I don't think it's wrong. Thera are many ways to do A rescue, with different materials and experience and cases.

You can clip the Casaulty to the top D-ring but it seems to be the same as you make the connection at the "ascender" D ring. In my opinion The control in the view of First AID is much better when you use the lower ring because of the distance between you and the casualty.

  • In the case of an accident the first responder medical check up (such as HOLK to find any bleedings, or in case of high energetic trauma.) you will have close supervision to the casualty. You can keep the casualty right up to make a connection between the chester D ring and a lower point.

  • Also,The fall factor with this victim is NEVER higher than 0-0.5 because of the way i used it. At the friction point hand (highest point) is the shunt handled. So i think it will never get a force up to 20 kN on the shunt (Eye break limit force of the shunt (Petzl)). It shouldn't have ever have a shock load because of the height of the use in this system (IRATA ICOP 2010).This is A way to do. It is only a Demostration ho you can do it. It isn't a online training. It ónly can give you a vision!!

  • @industrialropeaccess

    Good video guys.

About the Shunt, we all should use EN 12841 A devices (wich Shunt is not). Moreover, Petzl says clearly not to use this device as a fall arrester (so why Irata keeps on using it?)

  • @delcampobase

This film is made before the big dicussion about the Shunt. In the netherlands it's for this moment forbidden by the ARBO (Law). Our company rules agreed with this and for now we're using the ASAP petzl , Backup kong, Manta Heightec for rope access activities.

We aren't using the shunt for backup anymore but the films are showing how to rescue (and are made in the time the shunt was world wide accepted as backup).

    This film is

  • This is the way we trained for the IRATA Level 3 course last februari and we all pass. For this moment there is a lot of comment about the shunt as backup device. In the netherlands there is a research about the shunt for rope access use because of an (untrained person use) accident. Inside IRATA it isn't forbidden for now but The advice is to use a ASAP (petzl), Backup (kong) or a Manta (hightec). Otherwise inside the industy it is still used. so.... Thanx for your comment. • @ohana1981 yes its true its better to use an extra shunt under the safety sunt to keep te fall factor on the shunt as loww as possible

  • the rescue is wrong the cassualty has to be clipped from the rescuer descender carabimmer to the chest d ring of the victim.

  • If there is enough rope, you could also tie the ABK inside another ABK right below the casualty's kroll. Then you pick him from his kroll to his descender and come down, passing the shunt across the the other knot of course.

  • That's the way to do it...just quit grabbing that shunt though !
