  • i wonder how someone dont like this video

  • another thing I like, with all the speculation and doubt after the Wood Memorial, w/the quarter to half dollar size puss oozing blue abscess under rt upper lip at the bit that noone knew about, NOT even Turcotte, that caused that loss.... on international radio, that announcer said... "It's Secretariat! and he's GOT his Kentucky Derby!!" :) :)

  • @osmiu Yes ! In the bio, after the race, you shld read it, Nack's description of Turcotte's thoughts about this horse and what he had just experienced. Then Nack described thoughts about Secretariat's, not just his stamina, but the depth of it, plus his strength. Nack said observing, it seemed that Lucien and Penny didn't really understand what had just happened.

  • He finally shows up again at corner of screen at 1:03, having passed what, 5 horses. Then in that wide space at about 1:14, Turcotte starts to wonder if he can keep this up, but he's running well, breathing rhythmically, even stride.... but then could see Sham was running well. When he catches him on the tinal turn, as he said later... "they were rolling, but I was flying!"

  • At :44 you can see him third fm last.... then Turcotte takes him to the outside and that long, relentless drive, circling the entire field, going each 1/4 mi faster, the last 1/4 in 23 flat. This video looks the same as others but in beginning he's visible in last place longer, just before he splits 2 horses, just before T takes him to the outside for the drive.

  • Excellent addition of music to this video. We all know how it will end but it never fails to be exciting to see Secretariat come from behind like he always does. My neighbors must think I'm crazy yelling "Go Secretariat! Go!"

  • Just to repeat what everyone else here is saying, this is great with the music...adds to the magic of watching this legendary athlete.

If you watch ESPN's 'athlete's of the century' here, you see Penny Chenery describe how Secretariat seemed to have figured out racing now and was dictating how he would run the race. Ron Turcotte gave him a bit of direction and let him go!

  • I think here Ronnie fully understand what Secretariat is able to do .

  • outstanding ..

  • @treywfsmith The song is "Heart of Courage" by Two Steps from Hell. It's been used in a lot of trailers. You can get it on Amazon.
