Some idiot posted that anyone could do that. I grew up with Mike in Kona and trust me he revolutionalized bodyboarding. He would catch side wash at Magic Sands and do things with that wave that still cannot be duplicated. Mike is and always was a waterman...he does rolls and airs but that line at pipe was classic..for someone to say anyone could do that has never paddled out at pipe or known how someone makes the difficult look so easy. Much aloha Mike.

I was born in Kailua and I haved surfed the globe.I live on the North Shore and have had the pleasure to watch Mike grow up and I have followed his career from kona to tow-ins at Teahupoo. He is a great waterman. Back in the early 80's he and Rock Kahele took body boarding and body surfing to the next level. Big Rod Kahele would pull into 12 foot barrels with a Mcdonalds tray and a pair of thrashed fins while Mike would be perfecting rollos and suicide drops in the heaviest surf the North Shore.
