  • Actually, Tannen should be dead after this, according to the writters, but they won't to make a bad atmosphere so this scene was cut. And made Tannen only arrested.

At least, this scene is opening a confirmation of the ratty and ruthlessness nature of Bufford "Mad Dog" Tannen.

  • This was cut, but retained in the novel, along with arresting Tannen for Strickland's murder, and I think it's better in writing than on-screen. I don't think this scene was BAD as in acting, it just didn't fit.

  • @kanoba971 He shot him, but that's in deleted scene of this deleted scene.

  • thank god they cut this scene out.....though it still seems out of place, having his deputy arrest tannen at the end of the movie.

the tone of this scene does NOT match that of the movie, at all........even with the whole "discipline" shtick.....

  • @eternalhalloween1 They cut it out but it's still cannon. Edna Strickland mentions it in BTTF: The Game

  • This scene was so horrible, they even had to remove the one reference to it. Like others have said, the scene with the marshal being killed in front of his son was unacceptable. And we would have wanted SO MUCH for Marty to kill Tannen. And that would have ruined the plot of Marty having to learn not to jump everytime someone calls him a name. Thank you whoever took this horrible scene out.

  • Press 7!

  • @SteelCity1981 It's on the DVD, along with some commentary on why they removed it. Having Tannen kill someone meant that you'd want him dead later, but there was no way they were going to have Marty or Doc kill him, as it's out of character. They wanted the manure joke, so they had to make him a little less dangerous.

  • Tannen kills Marshall Strickland.

  • If this scene was left in...they should have added a scene where after Mad Dog Tannen falls face first in the manure, Marshall Strickland's son walks up to him and shoots him in the back. And then turns to the camera and says, "SLACKER!"
