Creation is dependent on the mind - mental modifications. It is difficult for the modern mind to accept this because of the inherent assumption that there is a physical external world.

However, all we really have are notions of reality.

What is going on right now? The whole universe in its entirety is happening right here, right now. We can make assumptions and inferences about other aspects of the universe for example, 'outside of this room' but this is based on memory.

Creation stops when the activity of the mind stops. It is really about moving the attention away from concepts and conceptualisation to itself. This is nirvikalpa samadhi. Turn to what exists rather than what we remember, assume or think exists.

Nirvikalpa samadhi. Samadhi means 'absorption'. This absorption is usually in an object. Nirvikalpa means that the object of absorption is in what is getting absorbed, namely the attention itself.

  • Science fiction has occasionally been used as a tool for exploring reality. See the work of Philip K Dick, for example. So it's no surprise that they occasionally stumble on similar territory to the Yoga Vasistha!

  • In conjunction with the earlier suggestion on Science fiction and this suggestion on mental modifications giving rise to the world; Don't you think that The Matrix has been copied from the philosophy of Hinduism?
