Di Balik Cermin Mimpi - M.Nasir

this is an experimental 2D animation that has been developed to assist my research on Symbols of Shadow in Wayang Kulit . it was design based on a song 'Di Balik Cermin Mimpi' by M.nasir, a well known local singer and composer.

The work focuses on the theme of shadow whilst portraying the resulting gap between the material visage (the shadow form) which is a secondarily derivative of the other hand and by product of the original visage (the true form).The relationship between these two is that between Kun (Be) and Fayakun (and it is). it also derived from Jungs concepts of the Shadow which explain that to become conscious of the Shadow takes moral effort and recognized the dark aspect of the personality as present and real, it was visualized in this animation with philosophical undertone by an odd reflection between the character and his shadow. The true form of human character is assigned on the wall while the shadow of the character is reflected in the real world as a means of character acknowledged the negative side of his personality.

Instead of using the main character in Wayang Kulit, I decided to make a 2D animation to be more experimental and more expressionist. A human character is developed and animated to sing along with the audio. i used a mixture of color as a texture on the character to indicate the human nature and human true color.
