The Barns of Bynack

Short clip of a trip to Bynack More on the northern edge of the Cairngorms with the Marr College Hillwalkers from Troon in Ayrshire.

The Barns of Bynack is a granite formation, or torr, near the top of the mountain. The technical term is a pile of rocks.

When we reached the top we were in cloud, rain and wind. Normally we would have a good old moan about this, but on this occassion when we visited the Barns the weather created an amazing atmosphere. If I'd been on my own I'd probably have bypassed them as there was a very eerie ambience about the place.

Hopefully the scale of the rocks comes across in the clip. Some of them are three stories high.

If you're in the Aviemore area and you've got a day to spare it's worth a trip up Bynack More.
Just don't forget your waterproofs, map, compass, food, etc...;)
