The Opel Ampera is the European version of the Chevrolet Volt, an electric car with so-called range extender. The Ampera comes late 2011 (!) on the market in The Netherlands, but we already drove a short ride.

The Opel Ampera has a relatively large range (over 500km). It is primarily powered by an electric motor, the built-in motor-generator also delivers power if necessary. That is actually the opposite of a hybrid as we know it. The Ampera has 150 bhp power and 370 Nm of max torque, so the car from 0 to 100 in nine seconds. Interesting?

  • WTF, GM? The Opel version looks WAY better than the Chevy version, just like Holden>Pontiac. Stop holding out!

  • gave bak opzich

  • U fucking idiot, everybody knows Volt/Ampera are actually the same. The reason chevy is selling a year almost now in usa is the same why they are returning them to factories, its because they want feedback, noone gives a shit about chevy and americans, gm wants ampera to be a perfect car

  • @derpigpr500 umm well here in America we have had the car (Chevy Volt) for almost a year now and you guys however do not even have a production model yet... and if you Wikipedia Opel Ampera it will be made by Chevy distributed to Holden then from there becoming a Holden/Opel/Vauxhall don't get me wrong I would love having the Australian version when it is launched Oct-Nov 2012 but to say Americans do not deserve the car well I'll just have to say again that we already have it

  • turn the gasoline into natural gas ISTHE BEST CHOICE, electric is very expensive, not 100 electric and very slow.

  • @ikeaaron thats because Opel is based on german technology and european design where chevy is american u butt ass ... GM only owns the brand rights...

  • this is a honda :(

  • Battery range of only 60km? The General Motors EV1 of 1999 had a battery range of 257 km. Why did technology go backward in those 13 years ??!!

  • @krackatony theologically.... right... GM is so bake

  • @derbigpr500 your a complete idiot. the volt was designed and built in America by Americas. I understand why its hard to believe that an American company can build the most theologically advanced car in the world but they did... GET OVER IT! They put Opel badges on it because Opel sells better than Chevy in Europe and GM had to give Opel something for taking the Insignia. GM finally starts flexing some muscle and Europeans cant take the strength. time to wake up GM is bake and better than ever
