@JAMalambalambalamb I've been working this position since blue belt and I 100% agree with everything you said. When they sprawl out of your leg hook it sucks because your offense is dead and you're stuck until they move. When they go to your head it's much easier to bail out and if you attack properly your pretty much guaranteed top position.

@luchador1764 I'm talking about the technique. In mma I wouldn't willingly give up my back by going into turtle position like that. Alot of fuckers are so good when they have your back nowadays so no thanks. lol I can't find the clip though.

@olamprov turtle guard can be used very effectively in mma actually. properly used, its actually far more effective for escaping and getting back to your feet than closed guard. there is a clip somewhere of Randy Couture, Frank Trigg, and Neil Melanson demoing how it can be done.

@BigolePappy2 It's ok haha. Happens to alot of ppl. I think most of us have turtle as our worst position? I wish I could help you out, but thing is I got the same problem. But you shouldn't worry because they wouldn't put a fat dude in the same division as you xD.

Fucking clever. Can't use this for mma though.

Sometimes against bigger, heavier guys I have a hard time feeding all the way through for the kneebar. Actually turtle is my worst position because I'm small its like I get smushed and flattened to easily. I can't wrestler sit out, knee bar roll, trap and arm and roll. Really all I can do is look to sneak in a half guard somehow and against good people this is low percent. (purple belts and good/big blue belts smash me from turtle)

@EdOrtiz71 This is meant to be done, basically, as one move (grab the leg as you get in turtle). I play turtle often enough and I can tell you that, just like many other transitional situations, I know what I'm looking for will be there 9 out of 10 times.
From the perspective of someone that likes this position I'd rather my opponent swing to my head instead of my butt. It's much easier to back out and stand up or sit back into guard that way.

Just a question this position I think a lot people would straight away (0.57 secs) to try to guilotine you or at least head and arm control leaving the arm under between the legs exposed to ambar. Just my thoughts.
