The guys at ZDNET AU decided to see if people could tell the difference between KDE 4 and Windows 7.

Note:

  • Haha!!! How pathetic! Seriously, all that linux distributions need to do is pool a bunch of money together and release tons and tons of silly ads showing how cool and fashionable linux really is. That's why Mac and Windows are so successful.

  • @ericfontainejazz If a group really got behind that idea you would not really need tons and tons of money...do you remember those cool fan made firefox commercials a few years back....if the community got together behind one or even two popular distributions made some decent adds/vid it would actually help a great deal. Oh and I don't mean flash your desktop with metal or techno in the background lol.

  • I HATE BRITISH ACCENTS!!! Not British people...just their accents.

  • @JonyKickaHoleInDaSky but is not a British accent is an Aussie one

  • Microsoft must be crying...

  • Nah MS loves those guys at KDE for giving them something new to steal....I mean copy lol...

  • @JonyKickaHoleInDaSky WTF? is everyone outside of the USA British to you? you sound like cartman

  • windows users are so stupid

  • @joaorstm not true, thats only the case if you chose to not bother to search.

there are alternative desktop environments for windows too

  • @subeycreative Windows XP had those "amazing" effects fool :)

Vista and 7 have them by default

  • @shakeyjack I conclude you can still use other Desktop Environments with GNU/Linux, whereas in Windows you are stuck with whatever some people at Redmond thought you should have to use.

  • win7 best

  • This is not what the title says it is. They shouldn't be telling people that this is Windows 7. They should show it to them and ASK them what they think it is. A majority of people don't know anything about Linux, so they will say that they don't know, or they'll look at the features and say something like, "Isn't that Windows 7?" To which the guys could respond, "No." THAT is the true test of whether or not people can tell the difference.

  • "Are you saying that we learned nothing?"

    "Nothing."

    Priceless.

  • @Iamthelaw1526 What's funny is that Windows requires about 4x more memory to run less effects.

  • I wonder what their reactions were when they heard it wasn't windows, but saw that it could do everything they need to do.
