This video explains the experiment in which we propose to investigate the effects two novel navigation aids will have on driving performance and visual attention: augmented reality and 3D egocentric view navigation aids.

  • Data from sources like Google Street View could easily be used on a GPS-like display in your car. Our guess is that such a display would be distracting, and this is one thing the experiment will hopefully shed light on. Augmented reality (simulated in our experiment) should be less distracting.

  • how is this augmented REALITY when it all takes place in a virtual world?

    taking Pine's definition of the multiverse i'd rather call this augmented virtuality

    nice work though! looks like a really immersive environment. Can we hook it up to streetview? ^^
