I do not know if the fires were the direct judgment of God, or simply a grave tragedy.
But to teach people that "God is good" as if this precludes God, who IS good, from executing justice and judgment on the Earth, even harsh judgments. This is to ignore the scriptures. It is simply to teach falsely.
This kind of teaching does not stand up to the light and the scrutiny of scripture.
