These r questions Ramayana critics always ask, including me. Ramayana is about Monogamy, and which insists purity, among boys and girls.
Lakshman is kshathrya means dharma keeper.
In his kingdom premarital sex is punishable but not in Ravans kingdom. Ramayana supporters say, as dharma keeper he did his duty. If you compare with current day laws it is harsh.
But tht was the law of period. Called Yuga dharma.
Kings can judge and punish on the spot.
All of us are Monogamists because of Ramayana.
