I have noticed a few people complain about using an IR security camera behind a glass window. The problem encountered is the light from the IR lamp being reflected by the window into the the camera lens. This causes you to see a completely white image (essentially a 100% useless image)

You can still get the benefits of infrared, behind a glass window by simply building a external IR lamp. The lamp is then placed at least 6 inches from the camera (this is to compensate for double layer windows)

Anyway here are the materials needed.

Pliers
Wire (2 strips of equal length will be great)
Soldering iron (avoid the 25 watt radioshack one :) )
Infrared LEDs (I got a 36 IR LED panel from ebay for $3 including shipping)
Power source (I used the power supply from a old broken external hard drive (Offers 12 volts and good amperage so I can add additional IR lamps later on)
