http://www.martinbroussalis.com.ar Osvaldo Pugliese (1905-1995), pianist, composer and bandleader of Argentine tango. In the 40's he recorded some instrumental pieces on his own, anticipating the avant-garde: La Yumba, Negracha, Malandraca. He was a pioneer using syncopation and counterpoint in tango music.
Pugliese is considered also a kind of saint. Many argentine musicians invoque Pugliese three times before a performance, in order to attract good luck.
tres veces pugliese is a percussion composition performed with two triangles. The big one, right placed, plays an ostinato. The small one, in the left side, plays also open and muted tones, offbeats and syncopated figures as well.
