With the purse and the FUR.....priceless!!!

NOBODY in this decade holds a candle to this AMAZING woman!!

this appearance was 1965? The Nanny came out in 1965, and she mentioned that it was just about to come out. It was very interesting how she was so sexist. I suppose being sexist back then was very common.. Notice how her greeting was different for the males (a handshake) and for the females (a handshake and a touching of right cheeks). I saw interview with her daughter that she despised "males" and it seems the only reason she had anything to do with them at all was to use them,

I wish someone would have offended her and she'd of jumped up and slapped em hard and cursed them good

The first big star in hollywood who broke the mould for females stars who didnt want to look decorative and pretty, she wanted to act with a capital A. She was hollywoods First Lady of the Screen and the reason she worked so hard was due to there being so few real actresses in films. From 1938 to 1948 she was in the top ten money makers. Good films to watch
Jezebel, The Little Foxes, Now Voyager, All About Eve, Dark Victory, The Letter and Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte.

@JeffersonDinedAlone shes not at all ugly she even was insecure about her looks .....she knew she didnt have it ie judy garland but ws still loved ik find her more beautiful than JOAN!!!
-
What was ever the appeal of this ugly beast? Her eyes looked like someone hit her in the back of the head with a 2x4.

Bette was one of the best.
This is one of those rare times we see her without a cigarette.

@JOJO22858 Haha. Good choices. She was frighteningly good at playing nasty women but played sympathetic heroines fine too. I think I'm still a little scarred from watching "Baby Jane" and "dark victory" as a child haha.

@ShawDAMAN I would say my all-time favorite performances were "All About Eve"
and "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" and "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte" and
also "Dark Victory." I really enjoyed the older, crazier Bette davis the most.
