Karl F. MacDorman presents on the uncanny valley at the 2007 NMC Summer Conference (June 6-9, 2007, Indianapolis), hosted by the Indiana University School of Informatics. The talk discusses how perception can influence how we respond to humanlike animated characters and android robots. Perception can be influenced by genetic and developmental variations among people, visual and auditory acuity, which are influenced by maturation and aging, habituation, traumatic experiences, relationships, family dynamics, sexual fetishism, and cultural influences.

When I was a kid, I had a nightmare about being terrorized and chased by humanoid robots. I guess this affects the way I perceive androids or robots in general, with a sort of cautionary fear.
the same happened with me but I was chased by mannequins!!! and yeah that really afects my perception about all the humanoid stuff, like automatons and robots
