However, quite appropriate to the film. This is Scorsese's most financially successful movie regardless, and it is an exciting ride from start to end. Tom Cruise and Paul Newman star with Al Pacino's sister in Scarface.

I disagree. To me, this ending is perfect. I love it! I actually find it very exciting. He's back. Who wins or loses is not important: the important thing is that he has found himself again, he's back to his original self.

@dizzylizzy1974 It is not in the same league as The Hustler, but it is a very good film. It has one of Forest Whitaker's early performances. And I am a Helen Shaver fan from way back.

For me, this ending is perfect. To anyone who saw 'The Hustler' before this, at least for me, that bit where Paul Newman goes "Hey, I'm back" is just brilliant.

Yeah but I would have liked to see them play and see who was better, I know thats not the point the point is Eddie is back but I would have liked to know who would have won.

@dizzylizzy1974 It's a great movie. I don't think Scorsese made one bad movie during the 80s. His creative peak ending with Goodfellas.

What! "the most anticlimactic ending ever" lol. what were you expecting? a helicopter crashing through the roof of the pool club bursting into flames, a man bursts through the door and guns down Vince and Eddy then sets himself alight! it's a film about pool!

I would have liked to see Paul Newman impale Tom Cruise on his special pool cue and just before he draws his last breathe, Tom says "You really are fast.... Eddieeee."
Cut to credits, cue Morrissey. A MARTIN SCORSESE FILM.
