Master Ren GuangYi has worked tirelessly to bring Chen style Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) to the West since 1991. In this DVD, he beautifully demonstrates two fundamental Chen-style Taiji forms: the 75-movement long form, Lao Jia Yi Lu (Old Frame 1st Road), and the 49-movement Straight Sword form.

Captured in high-definition (HD) in New York's Central Park, each form is presented in a multiple-angle format, and showing the name of each movement. Each form is also shown in FlipperVision™, a slideshow comprised of nearly 2,000 photos by famed photographer Martin von Haselberg, so you may carefully study each of Master Ren's postures in detail.

A martial artist since the 1980's and a private student of Master Ren, musician Lou Reed has experienced first-hand the health benefits and power of Master Ren's teaching, and he has done a great deal to help raise awareness of Chen Taiji worldwide, even bringing Master Ren on tour to perform onstage in hundreds of shows across Europe and the US.

This program features an ambient electronic soundtrack and onscreen narration by Lou Reed throughout.

Chen Style Taijiquan is a comprehensive form of exercise that promotes fitness, coordination and relaxation which remains true to its ancient martial arts origins. Chen Taijiquan is noted for its fluid, coiled movements, punctuated with quick bursts of energy, known as 'Fa Jing". Regular practice promotes wellness through a series of continuous, flowing movements, while providing powerful tools for self-defense.

  • Master Ren is a rare open teacher. His classes are public and fully incorporate the deeper martial aspects of Taiji.

  • @hosdurga

and u r the one to measure the ability of shaolin monks? speculations like these are just ignorant

  • this is cool . check out you tube -american shaoliin wudan jerry cook - a dao-in master documenting ofer 100 traditonal daoist internal and budhst external styles his internal is efortless 108 5 element styles chinas greatest forms.

  • @Aheyne its not so few. Just not widely taught in combat variation because it takes far more dedication than most have these days.

  • i think theworldtaiji is crazy, chen is external in the sense that the internal strength is manifested to an external force. these are the principles of taiji chuan. Taiji is a philosophy a priciple of motion and these properties make taiji what it is, the basis

of all martial arts. Having trained with several chen masters i am actually planning a visit with master ren for training. The masters all have something to share.

  • Again, he is very very external and has no internal aspect of Chen Tai Chi. He never was really closed to CXW in China and he learned most of his tai chi from Chen Zhiqiang and chen Bing. May be a little bit from Chen Xiaoxing, but Chen xiaoxing never ever made it to National in China and he just used his Big brother's name, CXW to get his frame... Do some research and use your critical judement...

  • @caribbeanpriceclub I found some problems with your statement. First of all you are mixing cultures, which is a huge mistake, taekwon-do is a Korean martial art and perhaps their philosophy is all about the FIGHTING like you state. But each Asian martial art, or from any other country on that matter, has their own views about their style. Chinese martial art has a more practical view; their philosophy above anything else is about SURVIVING a combat or avoid it if necesary.

  • Excelente!
