My wife made Amish bread. She made two loafs in Pyrex dishes. Set one on a burner, the other next to it. A few minutes goes by. She decides to make some tea. Sets the pot on the front burner and turns the back burner on high by accident.
We were both in the kitchen talking.
BOOM!
That Pyrex container shattered and the loaf erupted in flames. She runs for the extinguisher, yelling. Andrietta comes around the corner quickly and gets stormy out of the kitchen.
I turn off the burner, grab a kitchen towel, wet it quickly, then throw it over the burning bread on the red hot back burner. I grab the corners of the towel and pull the bread off the burner. The remnants burned themselves out.
Cooler heads prevailed, thank you God.
Some Minor damage to the linoleum floor and shattered Pyrex everywhere.
I told her to rest and I would clean up since she had been cooking for several hours.
Everyone is safe, not much damage.
We never got our bread.
Thank you God for a safe home with uninjured occupants!
