  • Americans required the conquest of all British North America. This's the real reason for 1812 war. They took advantages of naval & commercial disputes with Great Britain,as the perfect occasion for Canada's invasion. However, the american territory was redoubled in 1803.Napoleon took the money and destroyed France & Europe, and US became bigger, the only one true winner of the napoleonic period.

  • @nevermore21R I wouldn't call them the only "true winner". Their territory doubled through the Louisiana Purchase yes, but 1815 - 1914 was a period known as Pax Britannica. When the British Empire effectively ruled the seas and reached a peak of territorial and economic dominance never seen in history. It wasn't until the World Wars of the 20th Century that this position changed.

  • @Eddythebeast666 sure but USA need commercial trade agrement and the french and british blokade were unacceptable. USA lost all it's european market. Napoleon made promised some futur commercial link with the usa, so with the embargo act of Madison the USA prefer to follow the french commercial proposal and stop all trading road to england. French navy never attack us ship during this time so the chesapeack affair was the last nail on the peace coffin.

  • @spad57 I agree with that but Briton didn't Single the USA out every nation that was aiding France was being harased. The British did try to get some consesions on behalf of Natives during peace negotiations but didn't try very hard. There was still to much unrest in Europe & they didn't really care beyond a slight feeling of indebtedness for tha help Natives gave in pushing back US forces.

  • @Eddythebeast666 hum royal navy impressment exist only because the british fleet warsin great needing of seamen to make wars against france that's all. Of course native tribes defend their home but the US saw the hand of the british behind the natives ever if it was true or not. Sadly for them, the natives were the true losers of this war

  • @spad57 Yes the US leaders also blaimed Briton for Natives fighting back as the USA tried to take native lands. Both the Native attacks & Impressment/harasment of US ships at sea where the result of US actions. Namely the USA's taking control of French new world holdings & giving aid to Napolion. Britons actions were more then justified.
