Rainwater for drinking- Combatting fluorosis

In fluoride affected villages of Karnataka a rainwater harvesting programme seeks to provide fluoride free water to familiesthrough rooftop rainwater harvesting. A good sand filter and an airtight sump ensures the cleanliness of water. The H2S strip test bottle is used to establish the absence or presence of e.coli and suitable treatment is then given to the water before consumption. The system is working well in a place not used to harvesting rain. People however report a relief from pain almost immediately.
