A look at the new addition to Toronto's Royal Ontario Museum designed by Daniel Liebeskind. Some love it, some hate it, some--like me--have mixed feelings. It's called the Lee-Chin Crystal. It's NOT a crystal! It was supposed to be a crystal, but genius Liebeskind forgot that it's *cold* in Toronto in the winter. Hence the aluminum. Maybe it should be called the Lee-Chin Metal Box.

DANIEL Liebeskind (yes, I said David--sorry). I don't especially like his architecture, his attitude or those stupid glasses he wears. Find out more about him at:

Santiago Calatrava (his architecture runs circles around Liebeskind and Gehry)

Finally, in terms of interesting architecture an old Italian friend recommended the new convention centre in Milan: the Fiera Milano. See a good image here:

  • interesting back story.Ya it's menh, like most TO puritan dull lust for life zest,CN tower the amazing exception,360 resto=Brilliant

  • @MrRaretunes I agree with you. I've never been to the 360 restaurant. That restaurant had a *terrible* reputation for years and years. Just awful food apparently. But a number of years ago they shook things up and it's supposed to be just great now. One of these I'll have to go up there and try it.

  • @MrRaretunes visited ROM yesterday, the interior extension design is absolutely pitiful,as cheery as a Walmart, seriously pitiful and disappointing !!!Wgat a shame, and lets not even get started on AGO!!!

  • @MrRaretunes I like the AGO reno. Why don't you like it?

  • Thank you for ruining the look of the building.

  • @adambombiswaycool I 100% agree. A real abomination.

  • @RoulinBrooks It's actually very close to 5 star dining,$55 gets you a lovely 4 course meal and a free ride($30 value)up the tower, and in summer you can beat the 90-120 min lines!!Caught the Air Show there!!

  • @xxxTHExDEADxMANxxx Everyone has their own tastes, of course. From what I've heard, most people don't like it. I think that it's questionable to build something like this when its very design makes it difficult to display things (no right angles inside, no regular walls). To me it's just another crazily over budget Liebeskind ego trip. Meh.
