After spending several hours precisely timing Charlie Parkers eighth and sixteenth notes, I have come to the conclusion that the dude can swing.

Sheet music is from the Omnibook:

  • thanks for sharing. My students will love this.

  • awesome work! well done

  • Nice, very nice

  • This whole CD is killing! you got Bird and Diz. Then you have monk, mingus and Buddy as the rhythem section!

  • Diz plays his ass off on this tune. You should have done his to.

  • That lick at 0:41.... one of my favorite licks to play.

  • QUE BEETHOVEN NI QUE 2/1 ESTO SI ES ESTILO HECHO MUSICA

  • Cool video but would have been better if it were transcribed in Eb (alto key) rather than Bb (tenor/trumpet key). :)

  • nice one- now can i have it a half time.

  • G pedal means that the note G is sustained in the bass throughout the tune. The whole song is contrasted to that G.

  • whats it mean when it sais g pedal

  • whoa whoa whoa is he really swinging the 8ths in this vid? that's some skill right there!

  • Very entertaining and spot on, looks like! A whole new world for Youtube and a great redux to "follow the bouncing ball. Thanks for an exhilarating ride with Bird!

  • These are great!

  • Author of these videos...I would be ecstatic if you put up some alto sax music.

  • hermosoo

  • Genius

  • @seerskater It's in B-flat (for tenor sax)

  • @Jono4174 yeah these notes definately arent in eb, its probably concert pitch

  • The sheet music goes down to A. I can get a (quite sharp) A by covering half the bell, but not at these speeds (TFIC) :P

I guess the sheet music is in concert pitch and down an octave.

  • love how u do these vids. straight into the favs bin!

  • awesome

  • sweet!
