I find your review refreshing. I was immensely disturbed by this film, but that's the point. The movie is absolutely brilliant and metaphorical. Also I strongly stress the importance of knowing Serbian history.

Just watched this film about a month ago, and though it keeps getting lumped in with horror films, I don't consider it a true horror film. It uses many of the techniques of the genre, but I would place it in the category of movies like Irreversible that are really pretty straight forward films that have a disturbing element ( and ASF has more than its share).
