Aretha's composition & Glynn Turman from ALMIGHTY FIRE's album (1978/Second collaboration with Curtis MAYFIELD).

An INCREDIBLE piano-and-vocal number.

Here! All ARETHA'S style.

JUST listen, all fans!

"THERE'S A SONG on Almighty Fire that has little to do with the rest of this Curtis Mayfield-produced album. 'I'm Your Speed' ends side two and was probably tagged on as an afterthought, almost certainly at Aretha Franklin's insistence. The cut gives us more of a glimpse of Franklin's artistry and genius than her entire recorded output of the last few years."
Joe McEWEN, Rolling Stone, 29 June 1978.

"If a song's about something I've experienced or that could've happened to me it's good. But if it's alien to me, I couldn't lend anything to it. Because that's what soul is all about."
Aretha FRANKLIN.

  • Thank you for posting this track from this always overlooked album from the Queen of Soul. Hard to believe this 2nd LP collaboration with she and Curtis Mayfield was so not appreciated then. It is one of her best, but then they were ALL very good. Sharing this cut is special - thanks again & Happy Mardi Gras!! ***DAVEDJ***
