What I have gotten from this is that no matter what we humans as a species do, no matter how terrible and destructive, the clouds will still be there. Am I incorrect?

That's an interesting point. The clouds were meant to be there in every scene as a reminder for the routine progress of constructive and/or destructive action.

I loved the music. It really made me somewhat sorrowful, but for beauty, not sadness.
