So after a busy week of midterms, I decided to unwind by catching a freight on the CPR Galt sub, and was greeted by CP 6040 and StH&L 5560 rumbling westbound across Bond Street to places west. The train consists of a colourful assortment of mixed freight and totals at 57 cars long. It was unseasonably warm today, and was killer windy as well. I had to hold on to my tripod to avoid losing it.
The yard was full of power this afternoon. After the passing of 6040 and 5560, another pair of SD 40-2's, 6020 and 5958, (seen after the train passes) headed up the wye to do work at various businesses in Cambridge. While not in the show, on the hole siding on the east side of the wye sat a trio of GP 38-2's, 3128, 4420 (SOO) and 3043. They were idling up until I left for home. The Galt yard is an excellent spot to observe yard crews and other locomotives tied up. There's usually at least one unit or a pair idling somewhere in the yard
