This was a Ray Noble arrangement, which explains why it is so good! Vocal by Al Starita.
The public hall was probably the Wigmore Hall in London, destroyed in an air raid in May 1941.

this must be one of the most abstract versions - way ahead of its time, like most of the music from this period; inventive and original interpretations. This band is one of the best for that sort of approach.

I think a public hall is a venue where the local populace hold dances, attend meetings, hold concerts and receptions - such as wedding receptions etc, In short, it is best described as a local community meeting place - a general purpose facility.

Another great tune. Love those BritBands.

Terrific rendition, straight to favourites.

The British Bands had their own distinctive style. Hope you post some Hylton soon. "Oh Maedchen Mein Maedchen" (not sure if my spelling's correct on that one , but Hylton does a nice job on that Franz Lehar tune

Great tune! Please tell me exactly what a public hall is--a theater for performances like vaudeville or music hall? Or something else? Was this a live performance?
