@kirax10a kick magic out of d&d and just go all out with fighters and stuff.
The other option is a magic heavy campaign with arcana unleashed.
Both, are monte cook and pretty good alternate rules(use 3.x for the base).

@Draeka must have some suck ass dms and players. been playing 2e for a couple decades now. 3e and up cut way to much out, and made it almost unplayable. then ten thousand rules mods, and 4e with 3phb, 3dmg and 3mm, good lord. are we playing d&d or dragon poker( look it up).

@AbyssalRook yeah, and that's why sales are down, and they are going to redo it.
Check out the article on the ny times about it. they want player's input to update it.
frankly 4e was a joke to gamers.
and sucked majorly. totally destroyed the game(hence why a lot of people went to pathfinder).
