Woking Dance Festival, 8th Edition, 2010 - part one of four

Woking Dance Festival 2010 ran from 19 Feb to 6 Mar. Over a 16 day period the festival featured UK premieres from international dancers and dance companies including Sonia Gomez (Spain), Brahim Bouchelaghem (Algeria/France), Radhouane El Meddeb (Tunisia), Cristina Moura (Brazil) and Omar Rajeh (Lebanon). Bertran de Lis Projects (Norway) presented the premiere of A Marja Fly Fly, for very young children and their families. The festival commissioned 3 new dance pieces by UK based artists Laila Diallo, Yael Flexer and Angela Woodhouse, winner of our first Maven dance commission. We presented the UK premiere of "City Maquette" by Mathilde Monnier and her company (France) and featuring 60 local amateur dancers. Workshops for young people, students and professional dancers, video screenings and talks complemented the festival programme.
