In 1988, Congress passed and President Ronald Reagan signed legislation which apologized for the internment on behalf of the U.S. government. The legislation stated that government actions were based on "race prejudice, war hysteria, and a failure of political leadership". Members of the 442nd performed so many distinguished acts that it became the most decorated unit of its size and length of service in the American Army. The unit garnered over 18,000 individual decorations for bravery, 9,500 Purple Hearts for casualties, and seven Presidential Distinguished Unit citations. 20 were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Unless your a Native American, we are all immigrants here or the decedents of immigrants. My mom was British and just became a US citizen.

Ronald Reagan gave an excellent speech in which he apologized for the illegal internment of innocent Japanese-Americans. These people were paid reparations. Over 110,000 Japanese-Americans were interred, 70,000 of them U.S citizens, meaning the US was their home or country of origin. The govt. has no right to put you in prison because of your ethnic heritage or race. Also, many japanese-americans fought for the US in WWII as part of the 100th Battalion and 442nd Regimental Combat Team

No shit - they haven't been "charged" with a crime. That is the problem. A formal indictment is the first step in legal process, followed by such things as plea negotiations, discovery, trial, sentencing, and imprisonment. Currently, they are being held under the ACCUSATION of terrorism or other related crimes without ANY due process.
