  • I'm not sure if any of those two Guards have been fight anywhere outside Europe?

    for now there's very few records regarding to the battles the Mousquetaires had been fighting. do those guard units fight in the New World??

  • @DiscothecaImperialis Yes, they were both part of "Maison militaire du roi de France"

    The Gardes Françaises were the second highest infantry unit in the army (the first being "cent suisses" the Swiss guard)

    The French guard shared the responsibility of guarding the exterior of the palace of Versailles with the Swiss guard, and they were also police unit in Paris

    The Mousquetaires du Roi were the most prestigious unit, and participated in all the military campaigns of the 16th and 17th centuries.
