Here is the third arrangement of the three bells.

I would be really interested in finding out which one of the three is your favorite!

By the way, here's the lyrics ;
There's a village hidden deep in the valley
Among the pine trees half forlorn
And there on a sunny morning
Little Jimmy Brown was born

All the chapel bells were ringing
In the little valley town
And the songs that they were singing
Were for baby Jimmy Brown
Then the little congregation
Prayed for guidance from above
Lead us not into temptation,
Bless this hour of meditation
Guide him with eternal love

There's a village hidden deep in the valley
Beneath the mountains high above
And there, twenty years thereafter
Jimmy was to meet his love

All the chapel bells were ringing,
Was a great day in his life
Cause the songs that they were singing
Were for Jimmy and his wife
Then the little congregation
Prayed for guidance from above
Lead us not into temptation,
Bless oh Lord this celebration
May their lives be filled with love

From the village hidden deep in the valley
One rainy morning dark and gray
A soul winged its way to heaven
Jimmy Brown had passed away

Just a lonely bell was ringing
In the little valley town
Twas farewell that it was singing
To our good old Jimmy Brown
And the little congregation
Prayed for guidance from above
Lead us not into temptation,
May his soul find the salvation
Of thy great eternal love"

  • Hi Doug. It think this is my favorite cut, although comparing Chet against himself is a real tough job. His music is always magic. Thanks for sharing.

  • Any guitarists care to comment on which technique Chet's using at about 1:30 on during the bridge. It sounds like some kind of fingerboard-tapping method. it's clear he's not using a pick there, and by tapping with both hands is able to play two different parts simultaneously.

  • Love this, the best of the 3 IMO...thank you, and R.I.P Chet !

  • all 3 versions are just wonderful, but I think the 1st version you posted is my favorite. Hard to choose though. :)

  • flancer=flanger, sorry

  • I like this one the best because it has less effects than the other two, and shows true honest guitarpicking and not something that is depended on echo or flancer effects. This is the way I like it. Allthough his Gretsch usually has a sweeter tone than what is shown here. The version I like the most though is the boston pop live version which leads him to I can't stop loving you (rare perfomances dvd)
