Playing my eucalyptus didg. It took me a couple of month's of practise to get comfortable with the "cheek wobble" and work it into my little grooves. I found furrytummy's excellent video very helpful and I include it in my favourites.

  • Thanks for the kind words. Glad you like the clip and the grooves... ; )

  • Is that an oven your playing into? That's great, I usually am in the bathroom for my choice acoustics. I saw Furrytummy's videos on the wobble, and have tried for a month. It's still not clicking, and I'm trying to find more material about it. Its proving difficult. Anyhow, great playing, hope to see more vids. (maybe a tutorial on wobble?!)

    cheers!

  • @Ryutai7 It's the kid's toy oven. I usually sit in front of a wall or something to bounce the sound back. How's the wobblin' coming? It took me a couple of months. I started by repeating circular breathing cycles first slowly then faster. I also practiced by repeating a few cycles at a time, i.e., drone-1-2-3-4-5, drone-1-2-3-4, ...drone-1-2 (the counts are for the wobble/breathing cycles). I was practicing this every other day at least before it felt natural. Cheers and thanks for the comment.

  • are you using diphram also???

  • @widgeriwoo Yes. The wobble effect comes from rapid, repeated circular breathing cycles. The pitch of the drone changes during a cycle, being a bit lower on the in-breath. A sharp breath out at the start of a cycle adds a pulse to the rhythm. The diaphragm is definitely involved in all that rapid breathing.

  • this is awesome!

  • @MemeScythe Thanks!

  • Hmm.. this gives me an interesting idea. Someone should design a didgeridoo that curves into a slope at the end and bends back up at the player like the shape of a wave so the sound wave bounce directly back into your face. It'd be like a built in monitor!

  • This is a killer rhythm - way - and that damn wobling - I WANT TO LEARN IT ;))))

Thank you for great great playing!
