@bhedrick101 Yeah it's also a lot more expensive. i really want to make a nice professional mold, but I don't want to shell out the cash until I know I can successively do it. But someday I'm totally going to make a real prosthetic ^--^.

The professional way is a bit more complex. you take the plaster bandage mold and create a positive model of your face and sculpt on that, it's a better fit. Then you make a plaster negative from the clay mold and pour the latex into that. Using separators (like petroleum jelly) all the way along. A couple advantages, you can get and preserve more detail in the mold and you end up with a mold you can make multiple copies from

I have been doing Klingon for 20 years, and made all the prosthetics for the KLingon Christmas Carol. We had discussions about skin tones for that, most of the actors were white, and we had to make sure the actors of color blended in. The choice we made, and I use mostly is to go for a Mediterranean skin tone, not black. It works better for pale folks and looks right.

@767Captain That's pretty cool about being an airline pilot! I think that would be a stressful job (@_@).
I would have to move if I wanted to get into film work. That's just not a possibility for me right now =(. For now I think I'll try and do makeup for local theater groups. Thank you though! Your complements give me confidence ^___^.
Hay did you ever try it with the Pam? I was wondering if you were going to be able to do that and the latex not dripping off? =^_^=

@studiohq I never did try it with pam. I haven't made any new prosthetics since this vid (:3). I don't know if the pam will work, but I don't think it will damage the project either.

I will look for one for you and post a link, but what you are doing is 3/4 the way there!

well, it's more time consuming, but the plaster of paris I use runs under $15 for 25 lbs... Looking at what you have done, I am blown away at your results. You have a real good idea for design, and your makeup work is excellent!

@bhedrick101 Oh, well that's way less expensive than I thought LOL. I went to an art supply store and saw a head mold thingy and it was $55.
Wow, thank you so much!!! That's fantastic to hear ^__^! Do you know of a good tutorial or could you make a tutorial on how to do a nice prosthetic? I've found a few text based tutorials but I'm having a hard time following along. I think I need something visual.
