  • Unless you use the more expensive, decorator foil, the foil is too shiny even if you only see a 1/2 inch to an inch around the perimeter of the cake; most people have household foil in their kitchen instead of decorator foil. Wax paper cuts down on the glare and makes it easier to clean up the icing along the edges of the cake. Foil indents too easily, making visible any scratches or indentations on the cake board.

  • Why do you need waxed paper if the board is already covered in foil? It looks horrible with the waxed paper.
