he really does not mind being picked up does he?
I have 5 chinchillas and only one doesn't mind beeing picked up.
I can tell by the way your chin looks and the commends you give here that you are a very responsible chin owner. I have a chinchilla blog, where I inform people about some important chinchilla facts. would you mind if I put your video on it? I really love it! My blog is called ChinSpot

You are an awesome person.
Judging by your comments Pogo is a very lucky chinchilla to have you as an owner. It's awesome to see someone responsible with their pets..

@miniblondy22 I use raisins, rosehips, cheerios, and alfalfa hay, and break them up into tiny tiny peices, so one treat becomes ten treats. )

Hello. How much did you buy Pogo and do you train him when he's hungry so you can give him treats? You trained him well.

... as there are so many chinchilla's needing homes in shelters and on sites like petfinder, craigslist and kijiji. I bought him from the pet store so I could get him out of that tiny fish tank...but they will just replace the chinchillas that are bought with new ones. Unfortunately so many people buy chinchillas because they are cute, and don't realize that they require a lot of attention, and a month or two later they get rid of them... :(

@000MANDA000 you said you got yours from a pet-store, is it any better to get them from someone selling online or about the same? Also in the instance such as mine where I would rather get from a breeder, would pet-store or online be the next best option? Your Chin is cute, but we have been throwing around the idea of a Chin for about a year now and want to get it right. Have you thought about breeding?

@amazonqueen I'd recommend a reputable breeder over a pet store. You could also try looking at your local animal shelter to see if there are any there who need a home too. The next best option would be to buy from somebody online who can't take care of their chinchilla anymore. Too many are in need of homes because people don't realize that chinchillas require a lot of time. They get them for the cute factor, not realizing it can be a twenty year commitment.

@amazonqueen With my chinchilla, I would never breed him as he is from a pet store and I have no idea if he would pass on any genetic diseases or undesirable traits because I don't know his genetic history, unlike the chinchilla's that reputable breeders have.
Good luck on the search for your new friend! :)
