not bad not bad.. In my opinion I think the songs much nice with the song kept with the 'latin' feel rather then the 8th feel then drum n bass.

i really dont like to think of scales during my jazz soloing.
play the chord tones.
i do that while playing a lot of passing notes.
i dont know what instrument you play, but its somewhat easier on guitar when you have the chords right in front of you

Well you can use any note you want. But to start try to solo with the arpeggio of the chord you're playing. First try to use notes on the harmony when you dominate this you can introduce the tensions. Practice makes perfect I hope I hepled you.
