@ElJamon4Me Yes, I think one of the first mestizos was Garcilaso de la Vega, the famous writer.

@XxXAngelOfPainXxX However Latino is seldom used in many Latin American countries 2 day as self Identification and is used more outside Latin Americas. Most of the time people identify from where they come from by an area they reside or live in.
-
@XxXAngelOfPainXxX Actually the term Latinos was first used - The term "Latin America" was used for the first time in the nineteenth century when the French occupied Mexico (1862–1867), leading to the Second Mexican Empire, and wanted to be included in what was considered Spanish America. source wikipedia
Mexicans were the first people to be called or referred to as Latinos in the Americas.

@XxXAngelOfPainXxX B4 Mexico was Mexico it was Nueva Espana or New Spain & the people called themselves Nuevo Hispanos. W'hen france took over they changed it to America Latina or America Latine and people were given these identities.

@XxXAngelOfPainXxX Actually the Majority are Mestizo so they are half white & half Native. Mestizo is a term traditionally used in Latin America, Philippines and Spain for people of mixed European and Native heritage or descent. Now let me give you some examples. i will give you Mexico. When Hernan Cortes came his translator was a native woman & they are responsible for creating the Mestizo's. You can look at it as a new tribe & they are credited for starting the Mexican people.

@ElJamon4Me Interesting.

@Pin8yelchavodel8 You do realize that Anglo Saxons are also made up of different ethnic groups. the intruding population is traditionally divided into Angles, Saxons, and Jutes, but their composition was likely less clear-cut and may also have included Frisii and Franks. Also, the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle contains text that may be the first recorded indications of the movement of these Germanic tribes to Britain. The Latins of Southern Europe who speak Latin based languages have similar culture
-
@ElJamon4Me You missed the point: "Latin" is not ment to point towards a certain culture or ethnic group, but to a linguistic cluster. It is not the same than "Anglo Saxon" (an ethnic group), or British (a nationality). Every nation who speaks a language derived from Latin as his mother tongue is a "Latin Nation". You can find a similar concept in the "Celtic Nations".

@Pin8yelchavodel8 He called it Formosa ("Beautiful"), but it quickly took on the name of its European discoverer. The islands of Fernando Pó and Annobón were colonized by Portugal in 1474. It would be like calling British South Africa Africans Anglos because they speak English or were colonized by the English. Yes they share or inherited English and learned Anglo customes but they are not Anglo Saxons they are African Just like a white person living in Africa is mostly likely a Anglo.
