Every time I talk about WW2 I quote your 'you cannot eat a tank' argument. Excellent

It amazes me how many people think that using scarce resources to blow up other scarce resources and people creates wealth.

Yes thats why US had huge exports after the war. I think Tom ignored that productivity is also determined by labor specialization & technology.

But WWII did set up the infrastructure of Aerospace and Defense and Computers..

Technology grows tremendously during wartime because resources are scarace & technology helps allocate resources more efficiently.

Many libertarians ignore this but most of all advances in technology had a direct or indirect effect by the government.

Winning a major war that leaves most of the industrial world weak and in some cases destroyed, then of course you have a few decades head start. The World has caught up now and in some areas passed the US.

You continue to confuse the hard sciences with the social sciences, and never answered my question.

World War II certainly put the U.S.'s military at the top, but war never helps a country's economy. Money for bullets and bandages were top priority for any country.
